Day 15

So I have been copying a bunch of stephen silvers stuff. He is my hero. He is so good. Anyway, I love the faces he does... this was an ill attempt on trying to be like him. HAHA

Day 14

Ok so this was a day where I got so frustrated because I couldn't draw women! I still can't! haha... its so hard! but I learned a ton. This is 1 page of several. Anyway, I have wasted soooooo much paper sketching and trying to get better. I feel like I have plateaued though... I will keep climbing.

Day 12

Day 11

Day 10

Day 9

I went onto the satorialist blog to draw some gestures. I have been drawing non stop but I dont really feel I have much to show for it. HAHA I feel like I have been learning though.

Day 8

I wrestled through out my school years. I thought it would be fun to make a little wrestler guy. I think I have some nice things going on in this. I am going to move on to study more gesture.

Day 7

Ok so I decided to take one of gestures from my last post and render it out. It was a good try... but no cigar! haha I still cant get those blasted hips right. Mel Milton helped me sort that out. I think Im starting to get it... But I had such a great time with this drawing. It was so fun to just create a small little story and draw it. Mel helped me see the flow of this drawing and where it gets stuck in places losing its energy. I wanted the lil guy to have the upper hand and clearly the lines of action dont portray that he has the upper hand. So next time I draw something I want to look at the idea as a whole and make sure my composition is portraying the most important parts of the drawing. Its the same concept when Im animating. I need to take the most important part and make it as power, clear, and simple as possible. For Narnia!

Day 6

So I wanted to go for more gesture on this one. Last night I had the idea of a big mean cowboy with a little gun and a little sheriff with a big gun. Tonight I will actually sketch it out. I learned that my hips werent quite right from mel today so hopefully I can get that right!

Day 5

I liked drawing this one because i was half asleep but laughing because i thought it was fun.

Day 4

Ok so the next 3 posts are sucky... I had a crazy weekend and I ended up sketching these at like 3 in the morning each night. It was a very busy weekend ok!? Dont give me any guff! But at least I sketched somthing!

Hey There Buckies! So, here I am... doin the bull dance... feelin the flow. I feel like I learned a lot already and its only day 3! I feel like I knew my shapes much better before I even started laying down poses. So mel felt like I have some great lines and movement in the lower body but I lost it on the arms. And......its true. HAHA I said "wtf am I gonna do with these arms!" when I got to them. So my next exercise will most likely be trying to pose out just upper body in frame so I can get familiar with doing upper body. But yes.... its true, I like to draw bellies! Ahhhhh Llama face!

Thursday, November 4, 2010

Ok, so I wanted to do a sheet of gestures so I could improve them. I chose one of them and tried to use the same character as Day 1. I think my shapes are more anatomically correct and working together but I lost a lot of appeal in this drawing. I think I could have taken this pose and pushed it further. So I had mel help me with some draw overs. I have been having fun with my gestures. I think they are getting better.

Day 1

So This is the first thing that I sorta barfed onto the paper last night for day 1. My inspiration came from a show I went to last night. 10 Years along with Seven Dust, Avenda, and A New Revolution were playing. 10 Years stole the show. Their lead singer was so great. So this is what I remember of him. I wanted to focus on gesture with this one. I took this to Mel this morning and he helped me work out some of the anatomy. As you can see its not correct. I had dead ends with parts in the hips and shoulders.

30 day exercise!

Hey everyone! So I am sick of not being able to draw things I envision. I have a great imagination but when I get to putting it down on paper I can't do it! I think many of you feel my pain. I can't be the only Shmo right? Well so I have dedicated this blog to me improving my drawing abilities. I find that if I improve in the areas below my foundation will be much strong and I will be much more able to portray my ideas.

For the next 30 days I am going to dedicate myself by doing 1 drawing a day. Here starts the journey.
