Here are two guys that I did.  I have been using stephen silver's pose book app to get ideas.  I really love to just doodle and get some lines down.  Still have a really long way to go to be any good but its fun learning.

I decided to start learning how to ink stuff in Illustrator.  This is a start. I need to get better. I don't know all the tips and tricks. In fact I'm sure I am doing it the hard way.  I still had fun tho.... Keep Rockin!

Here are some quick doodles that I did one day at lunch.  I don't care much for the girl but the others are fun.  Oh well, its not like I don't have a bunch of turds on here already : 0

Angel Music

Here is a quick example of trying to put more gesture in my drawings.  The top one was my idea forming drawing.  The bottom one still has issues but hold much more emotion.

Whistle Danggggit!!!!!

So I drew the first face that came to mind and it looked like this:

So then I got the idea of how funny it would be if this guy was trying to whistle?  I was reading this Gesture Drawing for Animation book, by Walt Stanchfield, and he said to make every drawing have emotion and movement.  In other words make it feel alive.  So I decided to try to put this dude in a pose:

After I did this I felt like it flowed but didn't really have anything unique about it, I felt like my shapes weren't anything special.  So then I did this:

This one felt really stiff so I decided to make really great shapes and flow:

After showing my friend Allen he reminded me that I had lost my original gesture!  so I just learned that I need to just draw it right the first time! haha..... not gonna happen.  Anyway, I came out with this last one. I feel much better about it. I feel like I didn't compromise shape but I got much better gesture.  So I learned that keeping my drawing alive involves having nice shapes but also NEEDS GESTURE!  Anyway, cheers duders

More poses sonny boy!

I started getting frustrated today because I couldn't take a character and make him fit into a pose.  I realized that I need to keep going on poses!  So I did.   If you guys haven't seen posemaniacs.com that is a great site to get all angles of some great poses.

Hey Hey!  So I am going to start drawing again.  Well, actually posting things.  It's been a while.  I got the Pose Book Mobile app by Stephen Silver because I was curious.  These are some quick sketches I did of some of the poses from the App.  Overall, I like the app. I think that its very simple and easy to use.  I think there could be a lot more unique poses in there.  What I like most about the app is that there are small videos from Stephen that show his process on posing his character.  Overall, I definitely think its worth the money.  I also love to support ambitious artists like Stephen Silver.  He is fantastic and very inspiring.

more drawings

Drawing with a blue pencil

Hey! So it's interesting to see what can change in a matter of months. I feel like my understanding of shape and line quality has made a massive jump. I attribute all of it to practice. I have been drawing so much more. I have been copying the styles that I really like and it has naturally started to influence my choices as I'm drawing. I have also noticed that I feel much more confident when I draw with a BLUE pencil. Why? I don't know. It just feels better because I can draw much lighter to block in my shapes and then I can add dark detail as well. So I guess its creating that contrast and making things pop. Here are a few updated drawings!
